Awakened by Tornado Sirens

NOT my idea of a good way to start the day. A tornado went through Lake Mary, the community right above us. It bore no resemblance to the photo above. It was an F0 and people from Kansas would be laughing at our news coverage. The newscasters were describing massive damage while showing a street where a lot of tree limbs were down. It took some shingles off the roof of the local news station and they told us that a few squillion times while we were watching the coverage. The (very young) newscasters had never experienced such a thing in their lives. Having lived through the Northridge earthquake, I found it very amusing. A reporter braved the streets to show us the "damage." She had a great shot of a trampoline wrapped around a tree.
As irony would have it, I watched a bunch of tornado documentaries yesterday just for fun -- all historic tornados that blew away entire towns. My (23 year old) son accused me of summoning the tornado. Pretty sure I didn't, but who knows.
They keep telling us about a house that was 80% collapsed, but there have been no pictures of that.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for tornados. Especially one within a couple of miles of my house. I'm just amused by the coverage of this particular tornado. The news people are reminding me of the time we had a 4.5 earthquake in L.A. and Keith Morrison got under his news desk and from there told us that the water in our toilets was safe to drink.
In other news, the photos of dead Christians in Syria are not mixing well with the Church telling telling us that we should be celebrating Ramadan. And the pope, say it with me, had a peaceful night and is resting.
